How Microneedling Works

Microneedling is a procedure where a numbing cream is applied to the skin, and then your provider will use a handheld device that creates controlled microinjuries to the skin. This stimulates the body’s natural wound healing process, while minimizing cellular damage. The human body has a remarkable ability to heal itself. As the skin heals from these microwounds, new collagen is created, and scar tissue is broken up. The results are smoother, tighter skin tone and skin texture.

Furthermore, these tiny holes microneedling creates in the skin will create channels that allow the application of additional products. Any product applied at this time will allow them to reach your skin’s matrix. You can find these products listed below under “Additions”. When adding to your session of microneedling, these additions will be the most effective in their actions if done with microneedling or within the first 48hrs after. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a highly recommended addition to this procedure. It involves the application of concentrated bioactive proteins, which release growth factors to accelerate tissue repair and cellular regeneration.
